It’s weird that pirates would go from shore to shore looking for buried treasure when the real treasure was in the friendships they were making

Michael Aranda was stuck in France once. Now my friend’s brother is stuck in France too… But it’s like, he’s literally stuck there (he’s in jail)

Yeah, it sounds like my situation was a little bit more… uh… good.  To be clear, I wasn’t really stuck IN France; I was stuck OUT of the UK, and France was where I hung out until that got resolved.

France is quite a nice place to hang out.  Unless you’re in jail, I suppose.

Oh I see. From his letters it seems like it has been a delightful learning experience. He’s learning french in jail. Now he can say basic sentences like “I’m innocent” and “I swear”

Also it’s super shitty for your skin. I stopped drinking milk last June and my skin’s never been clearer.

You know what they say about there being three kinds of lies?  Here we have all three.  Lies, damned lies, and statistics.  New Rule of Tumblr:  If it’s presented as an info-graphic, treat it as highly suspect.  Starting near the top this claims that milk is the number one cause of food allergies in infants and children.  What they mean is that milk is the number one food children can be allergic to.  Nobody knows what causes allergies yet and it can be any number of factors from the environment to conditions in the womb and any claims that there is a conclusive answer is a knowing lie.  The more egregious claim is that hormones in milk are causing everything from early puberty in girls to prostate cancer.  This is some of the worst deliberate anti-science I’ve seen in awhile.  It’s true that some studies indicate that increased levels of IGF1 are linked to certain health concerns in humans.  What’s not true is that ingesting milk from cows treated with hormones raises humans’ naturally existing IGF1 levels.  Unless you are injecting your milk, multiple studies and the FDA have shown no such risk.  Now there is some truth to this graphic and from a dietary perspective it’s true that most Americans are consuming somewhat too much dairy per capita, but that doesn’t mean you can falsely represent new scientific research which is ongoing and far from conclusive.

Can’t argue with the fact that drinking another animal’s milk is hella weird. That milk is supposed to go to the calf, for god’s sake!!!

Humans are only supposed to drink milk when they’re babies and that is human milk!

I’m allergic to (non-human) milk since I can remember and have been lactose intolerant for the last half-decade (I wasn’t born lactose intolerant).  I love milk and dairy products but still think that maybe, maybe we shouldn’t consume that…
